Well used to my lenses now!

It’s been over a month since I was given a trial set of Alcon daily disposable contact lenses “DAILIES TOTAL1®” to try out.

So what’s my verdict? Honestly I’m delighted. I wear them most days now especially when shopping with clients. I have got a routine going and am much more confident at putting the lenses in and taking them out. I’m much faster now and not as anxious as I was at the start.

They are very comfortable and I really love not having to wear my glasses and look out through the frames all the time. I’m most excited about ditching my prescription sunglasses and buying a pair I actually like!! Chanel, Ray-Ban, Prada. Decision decisions 😉

Tis the season to sparkle!!

So party season is pretty much here already and its not even December!! So much sparkle in the shops and here are some of my favourites for the festive season!

This gold jumper is €60 from Oasis.

This black t-shirt with sequin sleeves is €25 from Savida at Dunnes. Fab with leather skirt or trousers. Even gorgeous with black skinny jeans and heels. Easy.

This full on sequin black top is from Warehouse for €46 and Oasis have similar for €50 (I got it) and there’s a skirt to match – so it looks like a dress when worn together – clever.

This subtle sparkly top from Savida at Dunnes is €40 and is very Balmain-esque 😉 Perfect for understated glam.

Finally I spotted this sequin top in Penneys for €10 and love it with the burgundy fur. The fur also comes in navy. Gorgeous. Love sequins and fur – a little sprinkle of both – all perfectly acceptable this time of year. Enjoy X

New Arm Candy

Morning girls! Finally got my hands on a Cluse watch ?. Just love it. From Willow. Comes in beautiful grey too & other options. The wallet the watch comes in is just gorgeous too, pretty vintage vibes. €89.95. Nice pressie for someone or for you ?.

I love the simplicity of this watch. Just enough gold and cream to add a bit of elegant bling to any outfit. New favourite piece of arm candy 😉

Leopard. Its a love hate thing ;-)

OK leopard print splits the vote. A lot think….cheap, nasty, Bet Lynch. I think…it depends how you wear it. Its easy to add an accessory like a bag, scarf, shoes, for a pop of print. It gets trickier when it comes to a statement coat. I think the key is to keep it classy. Wear all black underneath. Black leathers or skinnies and a black fine knit jumper or polo – Zara always stock these. Over a black dress is another option. Take some inspiration from the fashion goddess Kate Moss. Forget Bet Lynch!!! I love this one from Gallery at Dunnes Stores for €60.

The Camel Coat

camel-coatThe camel coat is a classic. Its a timeless wardrobe edition and looks amazing dressed up but equally good dressed down with trainers and skinnies. Spotted this beaut is Zara today for €99.99. Its gorgeous on, great colour and cut. I know I’m biased, but camel works so well with a pop of leopard – gloves, scarf, bag or shoes. Perfection!camel-wwwbzara-camelcamel-coat-3jl

Getting used to my lenses

myeyes-com-picSo girls, as you know from my last blog post, I was given a trial set of Alcon daily disposable contact lenses “DAILIES TOTAL1®” to try out all by myself at home.

I am getting on ok. It still takes a bit of getting used to but I am definitely improving. When I wore the lenses the first day at home I couldn’t believe all the extra things I noticed, not necessarily in a good way – let’s just say the first thing I did was clean the kitchen floor – again 😉 I also told my husband he looked more wrinkled – he was delighted.

I will have to get used to the HD vision around the house and around people – everyone and everything looks a lot clearer!

I have been wearing the lenses for 2 weeks now, on and off. I went back to Mairead O’Leary Opticians in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre for a follow up with Alison to see how I was getting on. I went with the lenses in and she examined my eye, my vision and my tear levels…I’m not sure that’s the scientific term 😉

That was all good. Then Alison asked me to remove both lenses in front of her. I faltered a little under the pressure! At home I am much better and am developing a routine. I put the right lens in first and then the left and I take out the right lens first, then the left. I put my makeup on after I’ve put the lenses in and then I take them out before taking off my makeup. I am still not very fast but am definitely improving. I am also forgetting they are in my eye.

Contact lens update

Well girls I had my first contact lens fitting this week. I went to Mairead O’Leary Opticians in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and met with their lovely optician Alison. lense-on-fingerI was more nervous than I thought I would be, but Alison was very chilled & calming….I always need calming 😉 She did a full eye exam, checking my sight and the health of my eyes and whether they would be suitable for lenses. That bit all went fine and I was given the green light to try the Alcon daily disposable lenses “DAILIES TOTAL1®”.

Alison then popped a lens in each eye (she made it seem so easy!) and honestly I couldn’t believe the result! I could actually see myself in the mirror at the end of the room….and I was shockingly more wrinkled that I thought. Anyway, getting over that it was then my turn to try! Alison removed the lenses and I had a go.

Putting them in was ok. I washed my hands and then in front of a large mirror I managed to open the pack and get the lens out onto my fingertip and popped one in my right eye and then one in the left. All going good so far. I was overly confident.

Then I had to take them out. I didn’t find this easy at all! My nails were too long so that didn’t help, lesson learned. I was also freaked out that my lash extensions were all going to fall out from holding my lashes! Alison again calmed me and talked me through the various ways to remove a lens. For me I found holding my bottom lid down and sliding the lens down worked and I could see it and take it out. I tried it twice and the second time was definitely easier as I had a knack, so I’m hoping with practice I’ll be flying it.

I was given some trial packs to take home with me so now the real test begins! I better not chicken out, I’ll let you know!

First time contact lenses!!

So girls I’ve been putting off getting contact lenses for oh about 5 years, but am finally going to do it! I am teaming up with Alcon®, the global leader in eye care, and am going to get fitted for their daily disposable lenses “DAILIES TOTAL1®”.

I won’t lie, I’m a bit freaked out about putting lenses in so any advice is much appreciated! I should wear my glasses but don’t like them so live in my prescription sunglasses. I would feel so much better if I had lenses in and could actually see without looking like Stevie Wonder, especially in the cinema 😉

These lenses are marketed as the best in the market & provide 16 hours of comfort. I’ll let you know how I get on with my fitting appointment. Wish me luck!…“ I can see clearly now…..” 😉
